High-Quality Services for Addiction and Mental Health

Updated: Dec 7, 2022

Do you ever feel like you are alone on a sinking ship with a single bucket, and no matter how much water you dump back out of your boat, there's always more coming in? Imagine the same situation, but this time with a whole team of people ready to help you unload water, patch holes to stop more water from coming in, and teach you new ways to make sure your boat is safe and ready for travel. Struggling with mental illness and addiction can feel totally overwhelming and isolating, but you don't have to do it alone. SUN Behavioral Houston is here to help.

Our team of experts will get to know you and your individual situation and needs. After we get to know you as a person we will customize your treatment programs and support services to fit you as an individual, no matter your age, gender, or the severity of your mental health condition. Our programs are available as inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and telehealth.

24/7 Services Available For All

SUN Behavioral assessment staff is always available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After you receive your assessment, either a counselor with a master’s degree or a registered nurse will offer a no-cost evaluation to determine the most appropriate level of care for you.

We have specialized mental health treatments available including an adolescent psychiatry program and a women's connection program, as well as treatment options for most mental illnesses and addictions.

Treatment Options at SUN Behavioral Health

At SUN Behavioral Houston, we know that no two patients have identical experiences, so why would we make their treatments identical? While each patient's treatment is tailored to their individual needs, it will include a combination of treatment options.

Types of therapy offered at SUN Behavioral Houston include:

  • Group Psychotherapy: getting therapy in a group helps patients to realize they aren't alone while getting support, a sense of community, and recovery tips from those with similar experiences

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT addresses the thought patterns and beliefs that lead to behaviors and teaches how to modify them

  • Recreational Therapy: encourages patients to express themselves in creative ways and ease symptoms of mental illnesses and substance use disorders

  • Pet Therapy: reduces the symptoms of anxiety and depression

Other services include:

  • Constant nursing care as well as psychiatrists and nurse practitioners. This helps patients overcome the detoxification process.

  • Life skills and healthy-living groups

  • Stress management

  • Mindfulness and problem-solving

  • Yoga
